I was just telling someone over on our facebook page that it takes a lot of flops when you’re trying out a new diet/lifestyle before you can really find recipes that you love and want as your family staples. Well, here are a few of my own flops that I have had recently.
Flop #1:
This was one of the worst flops I’ve had to date. I made 2 pizzas and the first one turned out great. The second on the other hand had many issues..
Here is a picture of the first one:
Now here is a picture of the second:
Incase you didn’t notice, they look nothing alike.. You might be saying to yourself, that doesn’t look too bad though..well let me give you the facts before you continue thinking that way.
1. I ran out of spaghetti sauce and ended up substituting salsa in it’s place… not too bad, but definitely not my cup of tea.
2. I rolled out the dough, poured and slathered the sauce and cheese sauce and added the toppings, then realized that I never transferred it over to the baking sheet. Shoot! My husband came in and we tried together to transfer it over, but it wasn’t happening. The solution was to turn it into a stromboli. Not too bad either, except for the fact that there was so much sauce and cheese sauce on it and then the inside didn’t end up cooking, so it was just a big, soggy, gooey, salsa-y mess of a pizza.
We NEVER throw food away, but after eating bits of it for 2 days straight, we decided we’d had enough. Not even my daughter would eat it and she eats almost everything!
Flop #2:
I saw a post on Pinterest where you can home make your own Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Preface: WE LOVE CINNAMON TOAST CRUNCH! I also love to try out new and random recipes. Therefore I gave this one a try.I made 2 batches because I wanted to try out a gluten free version as well for the blog.. My daughter will be finishing this stuff off.
They weren’t even good as sweet crackers. They are chewy and soft and although they have a hint of cinnamon toast crunch flavor, they aren’t really anything like them( I even over-cooked them to try and crisp them up… didn’t really work. The ones that did get crispy tasted a little burnt). I had a hard time rolling them out because they kept sticking to my rolling pin, and therefore they were uber flour covered as well, which made them even more undesirable in milk.
Long story short: FLOP! Major flop!
Have you had any bad flops recently?
